A complete system of cabling and associated hardware, which supports multiple hardware uses systems and provides a comprehensive telecommunication infrastructure. Structured cabling is either building or campus based.
There are a set of standards that govern the design and installation of Structured Cabling systems. These standards specify wiring of data centres, offices, apartment buildings for data voice communications, surveillance, telecommunications, public addressing systems etc. The wiring is achieved using different kinds of cables (like; CAT 5e, CAT 6, fiber optics, modular connectors etc.).
